Jasimuddin End (Thakurgaon) : The name of the joint general secretary of the Union Chhatra League has been included in the July Fighters list in Pirganj, Thakurgaon. The name of the banned Chhatra League leader, who participated in the attack on ordinary students during the anti-discrimination movement in Pirganj on August 4, has sparked anger among ordinary students, including former coordinators.

A former coordinator named Alamgir Hossain Saikat filed a written complaint with the Upazila Nirbahi Officer on Wednesday (June 25) afternoon demanding that his name be removed from the list.
It is learned that Sumon Roy, the current joint general secretary of the Hajipur Union Chhatra League committee in Pirganj Upazila, joined the leaders and activists of the Upazila Awami League and participated in the attack on ordinary students during the anti-discrimination movement on August 4. Immediately after the fall of the government, he started posting one after another on his Facebook ID against the mass uprising.
Suman Roy is also not far behind in playing an active role in various online campaigns for the Awami League. Even after the fall, he was still active in various issues in favor of the Awami dictatorship, so the police arrested him in the ongoing Devil Hunt operation and sent him to jail. After being released on bail from jail, Suman Roy has started working for the Awami League again. Meanwhile, after verification, the upazila administration has published the list of names of the July fighters. In that list, the name of the current joint general secretary of the Hajipur Union Chhatra League committee, Suman Roy, is in serial number 3.
This has angered students involved in the July movement. A former coordinator named Alamgir Hossain Saikat filed a written complaint with the Upazila Nirbahi Officer on Wednesday afternoon demanding that his name be removed from the list.
Alamgir Hossain Saikat said, ‘ Sumon Roy is a senior leader of the union branch of Chhatra League. The police had also sent him to jail through the court in the ongoing Devil Hunt operation. Later, after being released on bail, he resorted to fraud and listed his name as a July fighter. Now he is trying to establish a reign of terror in the area under the name of a July fighter. The people of the area are fed up with his misdeeds. If his name is not removed as a July fighter, a movement will start.
When Sumon Roy was called on his mobile to ask his opinion on his name being included in the July fighters list despite being a Chhatra League leader, he said that Hasnat Abdullah and Sarjis Alam were also involved in Chhatra League politics before the July movement. I was also involved in the anti-quota movement, but I was not in favor of the fall of the government.
When asked how his name was included in the July Fighters list despite opposing the fall of the government, he disconnected and turned off his mobile phone.
In this regard, Upazila Executive Officer Rakibul Hasan said, “I am new here. The list of July warriors of Pirganj was published a few months before I joined here. I have received complaints in this regard. I have received a written complaint about names appearing in the July warrior list by concealing information. He also said that he will talk to the higher authorities and take action.
