Staff Reporter : Recently Heads of IT, Department heads and Network Engineers from 39 universities, National Research and Education Network from Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh as well as Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) joined a two days’ workshop titled “Fortifying the Future: Building a Secure and Smart Campus” at Long Beach Hotel at Cox’s Bazar. The workshop was organized by BdREN (NREN of Bangladesh) and Huawei jointly with the collaboration of Smart Technologies (BD) LTD. to expedite the transformation of Smart Education under the vision of Smart Bangladesh 2041.
Victor Lapian, Network CTO and Principal Architect, Huawei APAC, conducted multiple sessions on a range of topics including Trends & Transformation of Digital Education, Asia Pacific region Smart University Transformation, Rational technology for upgrading Campus Network to Smart Campus Network, Data Communication Solution and latest technology like WiFi 7, SDN, AI based solution Technical Workshop.
Through the workshop, the distinguished trainees gained insights into the current trends in smart campuses, digital transformation, and new technologies innovated by Huawei. The workshop aimed to help the university representatives leverage their knowledge to turn respective campuses into smart campuses. The trainees also received knowledge on its technological impact on the university teaching mode, which can fully transform the education sector as well as achieve the Smart Bangladesh vision of the government.
Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, Chairman (Additional Charge), University Grants Commission and Vice-Chairperson, BdREN was the Chief Guest and Dr. Sultan Mahmud Bhuiyan, Director (IMCT), University Grants Commission was the Special Guest of the workshop, Mr. Allen Liu, Vice President and MD, Enterprise Business Group, Huawei South Asia; Mohammad Tawrit, CEO, BdREN; Md. Zahirul Islam, Managing Director, Smart Technologies BD LTD and other distinguished officials from Huawei, BdREN & Smart were also in attendance.
Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, said “In Smart Bangladesh; education, especially tertiary level education, will play very important role. University Grants Commission of Bangladesh has huge responsibility to elevate these education systems to a level so that the students can overcome the existing and looming challenges. To address those issues, BdREN has been formed as a trust to bring about Digital Transformation in the higher education sector. It is really appreciated that companies like Huawei and Smart are coming forward and working in collaboration with BdREN to organize this workshop which will facilitate and expedite the targeted digital transformation in the higher education community. Furthermore, it will be helpful to generate deep insights and ideas among the engineers and policy makers to attain our coveted objectives.”

Mr. Mohammad Tawrit said, “BdREN is working to expand smart education sector in Bangladesh.
