Staff Reporter : Robi outperformed Grameenphone (GP) in all departments in the final match of the MNC (Multi National Company) Champions Trophy Cricket Tournament 2025 to clinch the championship title. The final match was held at the Bashundhara Sports City ground in Dhaka last evening.
The final match practically turned into a telco derby as the two leading mobile operators went up against each other in the cricket field for a change.
Zamiul Haque Auntu, Robi’s opening batsman set the tone of Robi innings with his blistering knock of 123 runs off only 66 balls. As the opener, he also carried his bat till the end of Robi’s innings. Such remarkable performance him the recognition of Man of the Match in the high intensity final match. Ably supported by other players, Robi set a mammoth target of 220 for GP for the loss of only three wickets.
Following a rollicking start to their chase, GP lost their way in the middle overs with wickets tumbling in quick succession. With the momentum shifting to Robi, its bowling line-up had their tail up as they went hard at the GP batsmen. Despite valiant effort, GP’s innings folded at 175 runs for the loss of seven wickets giving Robi a historic win by a huge margin- 44 runs.
Auntu’s dazzling batting performance in the final match was not a one-off performance, as raked up a total run of 471 runs from seven matches in the tournament which earned him the recognition of Best Batsman and Best Player of the Tournament.

The MNC Champions Trophy 2025 began on 26th April at the Bashundhara Sports City ground. A total of six teams participated in the tournament: Robi Axiata PLC, Grameenphone, JTI, HSBC, Standard Chartered Bangladesh, and Poeticgem International.
