Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, visits Grameenphone’s Data Center in Sylhet

Staff  Reporter  : Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, visited Grameenphone’s Sylhet Data Center—a milestone facility built to Tier III standards—on 6th September 2025.

During the visit, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb expressed his admiration for the robust design, high-quality equipment, and advanced operational standards of Grameenphone’s Tier III-rated Data Center.

He commended the skilled onsite team and the deployment of automated monitoring tools, which together ensure seamless and secure operations.

Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb was accompanied by Abdun Naser Khan, Secretary of Posts and Telecommunications Division, along with high officials including Anwar Masud, Chief General Manager of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Ltd (BTCL), and Md. Abdur Raihan, Director and Head of Technology Infrastructure Management, Grameenphone. Teams from different organizations were also present during the visit on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb said “Bangladesh’s digital transformation journey requires world-class infrastructure. This Data Center reflects the forward-looking vision of building a technologically advanced Bangladesh with reliable, sustainable, and future-ready digital solutions.”

Abdun Naser Khan, Secretary of Posts and Telecommunications Division said, “The government values such initiative where the private sector contributes cutting-edge infrastructure that supports the country’s ambition of becoming a global digital hub.”

Md. Abdur Raihan, Director and Head of Technology Infrastructure Management, Grameenphone, said “We are proud to have built this advanced Data Center, designed to meet the evolving needs of the digital ecosystem. This facility demonstrates Grameenphone’s commitment to reliability, sustainability, and technological excellence in Bangladesh’s telecom sector.”

To mark the visit, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb and Secretary Abdun Naser Khan planted saplings within the Data Center premises, symbolizing a greener and sustainable digital future.

Last year, Grameenphone inaugurated its first Tier III Standard Data Center in Sylhet. This Super Core Data Center, is the largest among any Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) in the country.

This container based modular data center prioritizes environmental sustainability with high energy efficiency and NOVEC gas for eco-friendly fire suppression and advanced monitoring with intrusion detection, ensuring top-level safety, security, and protection of customers’ data.
