Staff Reporter : Prime Bank PLC, in collaboration with all scheduled banks operating in Rajshahi, successfully organized the School Banking Conference-2025 at the Rajshahi Zila Parishad auditorium on May 17, 2025, aiming to foster financial literacy and promote the habit of savings among school students for addressing the financial inclusion guidelines of Bangladesh Bank.
The conference witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 400 students, teachers representing various schools across the district along with representatives of local banks. The event served as a platform to inspire the next generation to develop sound financial habits from an early age.
The objective of the conference is to cultivate a habit of saving among students, provide a basic understanding of the banking system, raise awareness about digital banking and the use of technology, and offer guidance on future financial planning and decision-making.
Nazeem A. Choudhury, Deputy Managing Director of Prime Bank PLC, presided over the conference. In his remarks, he highlighted the importance of nurturing a savings mindset and financial responsibility among youth. He said, `Financial education for students is not just a skill, it is the foundation of future economic stability. Today’s students are the driving force of tomorrow’s economy. It is our responsibility to guide them properly and introduce them to the banking system. This conference will provide students with a better understanding of the importance of banking and saving. I firmly believe that today’s discussions will have a positive impact on their future planning and help them move toward financial independence.’
The event was graced by Husne Ara Shikha, Executive Director and Head of the Rajshahi Office, Bangladesh Bank, as the Chief Guest. In her address, she underscored the pivotal role of school banking in building a financially inclusive society and empowering the youth.
Earlier Additional Director of Financial Inclusion Department at Bangladesh Bank Head office Qazi Mutmainna Tahmida empathised on creating amazing experience for the students who will go for banking at any bank. As a Special guest- the district education officer Md. Abdul Wahab also emphasised on savings practices from the school life for a solvent future of the student.
All Speakers at the conference elaborated on the benefits of school banking and offered practical guidance to help students embrace smart financial practices to secure their future.
During the session Assistant Director of Financial Inclusion Department at Bangladesh Bank Head office Mahmudul Hasan conducted the Quiz session among the students and gifts were distributed among the winners.
Shaila Abedin, Head of Liability of Prime Bank received the Lead Bank Appreciation Award from the chief guest on behalf of the Prime Bank while the Regional Head Md. Abdul Halim were present along with other high official of the Bank.
After the ward and recognition ceremony Prime Bank presents ‘Prime First Puppet Show’ was shown for the audience as a new experience of School Banking Conference.
After completion of all the formalities M M Mahbub Hasan, Head of Financial Inclusion and School Banking at Prime Bank PLC, expressed his gratitude to all participants, partner institutions, and stakeholders for their support in making the event a success.
The event also saw the participation of senior officials from Prime Bank PLC. and representatives from 45 scheduled banks, showcasing a strong collective commitment to financial inclusion.
The School Banking Conference-2025 marks another significant milestone in the national effort to build a financially aware and responsible generation.
